After completing a Masters degree in Graphic Design followed by a ten-year career as a Graphic Designer, Porter & Hudson owner Rebecca Syphers studied floristry as a way to pique her creative side. Rebecca finds inspiration in many forms – from fashion, design, and photography to travelling and last but certainly not least, the flowers themselves.  Rebecca’s work has been featured on international Wedding & Lifestyle blogs including Magnolia Rouge as well as print media including House & Garden, Home Beautiful, Country Style, Hello May, Modern Wedding, White and many more.

Porter & Hudson started as a studio based near the Southern Highlands before opening a retail store in Picton, a small semi-rural town approximately 90 minutes from Sydney in NSW, Australia. Porter & Hudson offers made to order bouquets and arrangements with delivery available in the Wollondilly, Macarthur, Camden & Southern Highlands areas, as well as a range of beautiful plants and giftware to accompany the gift of flowers for any occasion. Porter & Hudson also designs custom florals for Weddings, Special Events, Editorial, Corporate installations and offers a high end service and quality product from conception to production.

Porter & Hudson is known for its garden inspired effortless design style with movement and a touch of the wild and unruly. Creating unusual textures with flower choices and small pockets of interest for the eye to feast on. Designs will often feature surprise elements, whether it be an unusual choice of material, shape or vessel. Colour is also integral to the Porter & Hudson design philosophy – often designing with unexpected colour palettes and hue transitions that set the mood and tone amongst the flowers. Rebecca sources material not only from trusted growers and importers at the Sydney Flower Markets where she makes the 3am trek three times a week but also a group of local growers in the Wollondilly and Southern Highlands areas and may pull over roadside and partake in a touch of communal pruning. Porter & Hudson ensures to deliver designs that feature quality flowers and a refined finish.

Porter & Hudson is named after Rebecca’s Grandmother and Great-Grandmothers respectively. A name paying homage to her ancestry and a tip of the hat to the line of strong women in her family whose traits and skills she has inherited and who have always offered encouragement and faith.
